Library Access
Alumni may use the University of Alberta Libraries as a place for reading, writing, and research. Feel free to come in and browse the collections on-site. But if you would also like borrowing privileges your options are:
Alumni ONECard
Alumni may use the University Library as a place for reading, writing, and research, even without a ONEcard. Visit the alumni section on the U of A Libraries website for information on both ONEcard and Alberta Library card access.
The Alberta Library (TAL) Card
If you live in Alberta, you can get an Alberta Library (TAL) Card, that gives you access to many libraries, including those at the U of A. This option can be less expensive than using your Alumni ONEcard. Alberta Library Card website
Access to Electronic Resources and Special Collections
Alumni and TAL Card clients have in-house access only to materials in some specialized collections such as those in the Curriculum Library, Music Library, and library collections of sound and video recordings.
An Alumni or TAL Card does not include off-campus access privileges to most on-line databases and electronic journals as our licensing agreements with these vendors only extends to faculty, students and staff of the University. You may, however, access these resources from within any campus library by obtaining a guest computing ID from any circulation desk. You will be asked to provide photo ID in order to obtain a guest ID. Please click here for more information on Access to Electronic Resources. Recreation Facility Access
Getting your Alumni ONEcard gives you access to the many sports and recreation facilities on campus, as well as the option of including your spouse and dependents, at special discounted rates. For current rates, click here or call the Van Vliet Gold office for details (780-492-2231). Special rates for the U of A Tennis Centre and the Campus Outdoor Centre are also available.
