U of A Alumni Photo Contest
Announcing the Alumni Association Photo Contest winners!
The 2010 U of A Alumni Photo Contest has come to a close with more than 3000 submissions received. Launched in the fall of 2009, the contest was open to all alumni, students, and members of the U of A community. All it took to enter was a photo submission that included the block “A” created for the contest and the prize was “your grad year in cash.”
This contest has seen alumni from as far away as Australia, Germany, Brazil and Denmark show us their “A”s. Entries received included everything from family and friends posing with the "A" to alumni bringing the “A” up Mt. Kilimanjaro or atop the Great Wall of China to get that once-in-a-lifetime snapshot.
And the winner is…!
Chosen from a random draw among the first 200 eligible entries, the early-bird winner is alumnus Shane Jaffer (’90 BCom, ’90 BA Rec Admin) from Calgary. His photo showed his son on the beach in Maui with a much-loved “A” with doodles all over it. Shane is now the proud recipient of a touch screen Bluetooth®GPS unit
Chosen from a random draw among the 3057 eligible entries, the grand prize winner is a second year student from the Faculty of Education. Lauren Charanduk worked diligently with two friends to enter often with a promise that if any one of them won, the prize would be split three ways.
Thank you to everyone who participated! Below is the gallery of our favourite submissions. And for those of you interested in seeing all of the submissions, you can find the original gallery here.
